Welcome to The Advocate! We’re kind of new here.
We started out as a general human rights advocacy group called the SBU Human Rights Advocates, but after our first semester we decided it was time to change the way we function.
We learned in our first semester that what we did best as a team were newsletters. Our newsletters were, well, pretty awesome. So we decided to pursue that full time and become a student publication!
So what is The Advocate all about? We’re here to provide Stony Brook students an opportunity to learn more about the world beyond campus, and to help them find ways to make a difference. We’re all about advocacy, activism, and aid! Here you’ll find interviews with students and faculty, news updates from around the globe, and announcements of events and efforts you can participate in on and around campus in order to make our world just a little bit better.
We’re working really hard to get The Advocate up and running as a news source on campus, but it’s going to take a little time for us to get going posting articles here. For now you can join our newsletter by clicking here, and follow our Facebook page here! This will ensure that you’re notified when we officially get going, and you’ll receive updates when new stuff is added! Hooray!
Well, that’s all for now, folks. Thanks for joining us in our baby days!
